FEDERATION.

OPINIONS OF THE AUSTRALIAN •PRESS. United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph—

Copyright. Received March 25, 6 p.m,

SYDNEY, March 25.

The Daily Telegraph opposes the Federal Constitution. It says that the failure of the Convention to modify equal representation in the Senate by democratic safeguards, makes tbe price of federation the sacrifice of representative government. The constitution practically consigns free trade to irrevocable perdition.

MELBOURNE, March 25,

• The Age sees little good in the Federal Constitution. It bases its opposition chiefly on the non-federation of the railways. The Argus fears that the campaign against the Australian cause is to be conducted on side issues. Mr Isaacs makes it appear that the railways are to be put in the front of his Machiavellian campaign.
