The Chinese Mission Hall.— The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Chinese Mission Hall at the side of the Baptist Church, Oxford Terrace, was held last evening, at 7.30 o'clock, before a large audience. The site was decorated with Chinese lanterns, and the Chinese mission class, numbering over twenty, was present on a platform erected for that purpose. TheEev J. J. Doke introduced Mr G. J. Smith, M.H.E., who had consented to lay the stone. After making a short speech, Mr Smith went through the ceremony of laying the stone, and the proceedings closed with a hymn. A public mating was afterwards held in the Baptist Church, where the Eev J. J. Doke presided. Addtsses were 5 delivered by the Chairman Mr G. J. Smith, M.H.K., Mr Chidgey and two teachers of the class.
