Beports from Berber state that the forces under Mnhmud, the Dervish general, and Oeman Digna, left Shendy, on the Nile, between Metemtneh and Omdurraan, on March 12, and are rapidly advancing northwards. The Askariß, from Kaasala, captured the Dervish position beyond the Atbara River. The Dervishes lost twenty men during the fight, and a son of Ostnan Digna narrowly escaped being captured.
