LAW TENNIS.
The annual general meeting of the Canterbury College Tenni3 Club was held at the College last night. Mr A. G. Henderson presided, and' there was a large attendance. The annual report congratulated the club on its success in various matches during the past year, particularly that with Ofcago University. The club had now two fine courts, and its heartiest thanks were due to the Board of Governors for its generosity. The report recommended affiliation to the Canterbury Tennis Associatiou, and the classification of players with a view to Association toui'nameuts. The balance-sheet showed a substantial credit balance. The following officers were elected: — Honorary secretary^ Mr H. 0. Stuckey; honorary treasurer, Mr J. Glasgow ; committee, Misses Hickson and Howard, Messrs Lingard and Eichmond. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr J. K. Inglis, who had held the position of secretary for two years, and to whose efforts the present condition of the club was mainly due. It was decided to have the formal opening next Saturday, if practicable, and arrangements were left in the hands of the committee. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting. A match will be played at the Linwood Club's courts, Stanmore Road, to-mor-row, between a team from the Ashburton club and a team from the local club. There will be a short adjournment for luncheon, and play will recommence about 1.30 p.m. Visitors will be welcome, and afternoon tea will be provided.- The- following are the respective teams : — Ashburton — Messrs Salmond, Jackson, Cox, Fooks, Upton and Curtis or Johnstone; Linwood — Messrs Barlow, Ferguson, Kiver, M'Leod, J. Nicholson and Ballantyne.
