♦ — ■ ' THIS DAT. [Per " Stab's " Pigeon Express.] There were large entries in all classes >£ stock at the Aldington market to-day, ] md business throughout showed a healthy \ ;one. The attendance wa3 a large and •epresentative one. Fat cattle were reprelented by 202. head, including some very lice lines of prime steers ; about twenty rom Mr E. H. Rhodes, of Graycliffs, averaging £7 165, and a couple of extra prime ringing £9, 15s and J2lO. The presence if a couple of butchers from the other ide of the Kangitata made matters pretty ivelyi during the earlier part of the sale, ,nd they secured nearly fifty head. When heir wants were satisfied, however, prices Iropped back to about last week's level. , Prices realised were : — Prime steers £7 o £8- 10s, secondary do <£4 10s to £Q 10s, x jood' heifers £5 to M 6 10s, secondary do I 23 : 10s t0;64- 155,.g00d cows ££■ 10s to £6 is, secondary do £2 15s to £4. Prices per 7 .OOlb were much about the same. Owing ;o the lateness of the pig sale.- the store * md dairy departments had, not buen l cached when our express left. There is a 1 rery fair entry of fat sheep, but these vill not be sold until late. Fat ) ambe came forward, in rather, smaller : lumbers, and the entry contained . very ittle that was choice. Freezing buyers leenied to have fixed their limit at 10s 6d, , rad ; a considerable number were taken at f rom that price down. to 9s, butchers' sorts ' r 'etching from 7s to 9s and backward lines * 'rom 68 upwards. The yarding of store ] ;heep was an. exceptionally large one, in- ' sluding some- large- lines of station 1 sheep, some of which came from as j far south as Oamaru. All good' young • wethers and ewes met a fair demand, but ' iged sorts and weedy lambs were- not in ' request. Pigs came forward in strong force, the bulk of the yarding being fat ; sorts. The sale for these dragged a little ' it first, but soon recovered, and before the ] close last week's .prices were fully main- ( tained-. Baconers brought from 38s to 62s (a line of 20 from Rangiora fetching 565, and 48 from Barry's Bay 535), porkers 25s ' bo 37s 6d', stores 14s Gd to 235.
