ATHLETICS.
• A 160 yds handicap running race took place at Lancaster Park last evening in connection with the Post and Telegraph Athletic Club, and resulted as follows : — R. Critehley, 10yds, 1 ; V. Delaney, Byds,' 2 ; A. Bush, syds, 3. Ten started, and a good race was won by two yards. Time — 17 sec. Mr J: Cusack acted as starter. A meeting of the Kirwee Athletic. Sports Committee was held in the Kirwee Hotel on Thursday evening, when Mr A. V. Sims presided. The final handicapping was finished, and the entries were considered highly satisfactory. The handicaps appear in another column; Competitors will find the track in excellent order, both for bicycle and flat events. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr C. W. Bourne, of '■■ the Kirwee Hotel, for the labour he had gratuitously given to bring the track to its present state of perfection. With the Burnham Band, an excellent programme and propitious weather, a very enjoyable . day may be relied on. Mr Batbtone will cater for the visitors, and a strong body of oibcers will do all in their power to make the gathering the most successful ever held an Kirwee.
