SERIOUS BUSH FIRE.

TPer Press Association.] " WELLINGTON.'March 10. Information has been received that a bush fire which has been burning near Pohangina, came down the ranges towards the river with a terrible sweep on Wednesday. Everyone west of the fire was in danger, but no news has been received whether dwellings were burned or not. There has been considerable loss to stock, fences and grass, and a large quantity of valuable timber has been destroyed. Latest reports state that the fire is still burning, and unless the wind changes or there is a fortunate fall of rain, greater damage will be the result.
