ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
The arrangements for St Patrick's Day celebrations are now almost complete. No expense has been spared to make the concert a most attractive one, as will be seen by- referring to our advertising columns.. The excursionists to the racecourse will be accompanied by £he Stanmore Brass Band. The admission to the concert on March 16 has been fixed at one shilling to all parts of the Opera House, with the exception of a few reserved seats at two Shillings. Valuable prizes will be competed for at the racecourse on St Patrick's Day. At Geraldine on St Patrick's Day, March 17, '£ 140 will be. offered in prizes for running, cycling/ and other athletic events. [The entries reoeived so' far are very good, but the closing of entries has been held aver till. Saturday, March i2, so that all events may be well filled up. At a meeting of 'the Association on Tuesday night special prizes amounting to 4520 from firms in Chi'istchurCh^Timaruand Dunedin, were dlottedj and the programme on the whole s" certainly a most attractive one. Besides ;he usual sports, the Swimming Club will lold swimming racas (open to all comers) inder amateur rules, in the public swimning bath. The new pavilion will also be ;hrown open to the public for the first ;ime. ■
