THE PBOJECTED INCREASES. United Press Association— By Eleotrio Telegraph— Copyright. Beceived March 10, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, March 9. The navy estimates submitted in the House of Commons proposed a vote amounting to £23,778,000. It ia proposed to construct three new battleships, four cruisers, and four sloops of >yftr, and. to -increase the perSdiiiiel of the navy by 6340 men. Th« total number of war vessels in course of construction during 1898-99 will be twelve battleships, thirty-two cruisers and forty-one torpedoers. Owing to the recent engineers' strike, four battleships and two cruisers, authorised to be built, will not be commenced. The effect of the strike has been to much retard the work on other vessels.
