Presentation. — Last evening, at the Christchurch station, Mr J. L. Smith, who has been in the booking-office for the last seven years, was presented by the staff . with a Gladstone bag and dressing-case as a mark of esteem, on his being transferred to the Timaru station. Mr B. Pilkington, , the stationmaster, in making the presentation, referred to the good feeling that existed between the recipient and his fellow-employes. Mr Smith suitably replied.
