— • [Per Press Association.! WANGANUI, March 8. Mr H. L. Marsack, of Auckland, has been appointed Inspector of Abattoirs and Dairies for Wanganui. The Wanganui Rifles are sending only three men to the Rifle Association Meeting at Oamaru. The Alexandra Cavalry will send two. At the District Court, before his Honor Judge Kettle, in the case against David Hallain, Hunterville, charged with theft and embezzlement, the jury returned a verdict of " Not guilty." The police have received information that a boat bearing the name " Waptie " has been washed up on the beach at Waiapu, in the direction of Turakinn. No such boat is missing, either from here or Foxton. Inquiries are being made.
