A JUBILEE ADDRESS.

A copy of Mr Chamberlain's letter to the Governor, in reply to the Auckland school children's address to the Queen on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee, has been sent to Auckland by Lord Ranfurly. Mr Chamberlain states that her Majesty expressed her great admiration of the artistic manner in which the address had been bound and illuminated, and was graciously pleased to command that her most cordial thanks might be returned to the scholars of the public schools for their kind and touching expression oi loyalty. He had; however, to express her Majesty's regret that it was impossible for her to comply with the request that her reply to the address might be made by means of a phonograph. It had been thought advisable to decline numerous similar applications, and it was feared that inconvenience might ensue if an exception were made in the pre Gent case.
