Wednesday, March 9. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M., and Mr E. Green, J.P.) Indecent Exposure. — George Mevritfc was charged with' indecent exposure before two little girls. Mr Byrne appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Evidence was taken clearly connecting him" with the offence, and he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour. — A similar charge was laid against Richard Mant. After hearing evidence the case was adjourned till Saturday next to allow of inquiries being made. Bail was allowed in* one surety of <£50. Drunkenness. — Millie Steel, who had been remanded for a week for medical treatment, was charged with drunkenness. Mrs Cunnington asked that she might be allowed to take the accused into the Samaritan Home, whence she could afterwards be sent to her friends in Greymouth. On this understanding she was convicted and discharged. — Isabella Leckie, against whom there were 103 convictions, asked to be dealt with leniently, as she had not been before the Court since September. She was fined 10s or seven days' imprisonment. — A first offender was fined ss, with the ÜBualaltc native. Bobbing .<■ ; Orchard. — Two lads, for whom J ; >• Kibbenberger appeared, were charged with stealing " plums, value ss, from an orchard. They were each fined the amount of their weekly wages, 18s and 12s.— Two small boys, charged with stealing beetroot from a Chinaman's garden, - were cautioned and discharged. Obstructing the Footpath.— For obstructing the footpath by leaving a quantity of boxe3 thereon, Messrs Toneycliffe and Carey were fined 10s and costs. Breaches of City By-Laws. — Joseph Westerman was fined 5s and co3ts for driving a vehicle . after dark without having two lights displayed.— Richard "W. Coley was fined 5s and costs for riding his bicycle on the footpath.
