SWIMMING.

-• A. B. Truscott, bhe 100 yds champion of New Zealand, left for the north yesterday by the Kotorua in order to compete in. the 440yds i Championship of New Zealand, to be decided at Wanganui on Thursday. Last week some of the Australian swimmers visiting Christchurch went to Sumner, and gave an exhibition of their skill in the water. Some of the feats were exceedingly clever, and evoked much applause from the spectators. - Unfortunately, only a few people were aware of the Australians' presence. The visitors expressed much satisfaction with their trip to Sumner. The Rakaia Swimming Club has decided to abandon itß sports, fixed for March 10, on account of the Wanganui Club holding its sports on the same date.
