Tuesday, Maech 8. ( Before Mr E. Beetham, S.M.) Drunkenness. — Annie Murdoch was fined £1, with tbe alternative of leven days' imprisonment. Three first male offenders were each fined ss, with theisual alternative. Illegally on Premises. — Aiihony Ferrick and James Hoskings, foud by night illegally on the premises of St aul's Church, were sentenced to two two moths' imprisonment, with hard labour. ■-Breaking into a Pound. — Benimin Dftiry was charged with illegally- remving a horse from the Linwood pound. Mr Weston appeared for the plaintiff && Mr Joy nt for the defendant. William lenry Pengelly, poundkeeper, stated th* he saw defendant's horse early on the mcning of Nov. 20 wandering on" the East Belt. He took it to the pound. When b returned about an hour later he foun the padlock broken and the horse one. Defendant was seen by plaintiff's we to

take the horse from the paddock ; bu the pound itself was not in sight of the bnse! He afterwards saw defendant, who dnied all knowledge of the broken padlock, and said he had got the horse off theroad in front of the pound. The deence was that the horse was on the botpath outside the pound gate. Pfendant tied it up 'to a telegraph post and went in search of the poundktqjer, whom he failed to find. Defendant's witnesses, however, who had been orderel out of Court during the hearing of thejase, did not bear out the latter part of -the story, and Mr Beefcham inflicted a flic of .£lO and costs, remarking that he was orry he could not direct an action for perjuy to be lodged.Maintenance. — . Michael Ryan , was charged with disobeying an order : of -the court for the support of Patrick Ryan. Mr Malley appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Donnelly for the defendant. The casewas dismissed, the original order being aancelled and arrears remitted, plaintiff being advised to go and live with his son, whtre there was a good home for him. Summary Separation Act. — Jeniie Rosewarne applied for a separation ordjr under the Married Persons Sunimaiy Separation Act, on the ground of persisteit cruelty. Mr Beattie appeared for tie plaintiff, and Mr Hunt for the defendant After hearing some evidence the case wis adjourned till to-morrow.
