Calvert, as honorary colonel formerly of a West Australian volunteer j regiment. During a recent trial for libel at Old Bailey, it transpired that Calvert wished to obtain the honorary colonelcy of a volunteer regiment, for political purposes, and that it was ob« tamed. The parties to the transaction, the prosecutor and the defendant in a libeVcase, afterwards quarrelled about the division of the money paid by the West Australian millionaire to secure the honour. NEW TOBK, March 7. The New York World asserts that American troops have been ordered to lower the Canadian flag, recently hoisted at White Pass, on the route to the Yukon goldfields. A FATAL DUEL.
