Jones, Exeter Nurseries, at 8 p.m. to-day. The Countess of Ranfurly has signified her intention of being present at the show at 3.30 p.m. Afternoon tea will be obtainable. Salvation Army.— The Salvation Army held its harvest festival on Sunday." The statements showed the secured creditors' list to amount to i£3O7, and unsecured creditors £84 9s lid. The creditors for over £5 were— H. C. Jackson, Akaroa, i 8 0s 6d; Mrs C. E. Lawn Tennis. — The Chrißtohurch Tennis Club has just completed the first •round of a Handicap Singles Tournament for trophies offered by Mr Pannell, in both ladies' and gentlemen's classes. Working Men's Club.— There was a good attendance at the Social Hall of the Christchurch Working Men's Club last night, when a variety and dramatic pro- ■ gramme was successfully carried out. Songs were sung by .Miss Lily Haydon, and Messrs E. Maurice, S. Clifford, M'Pherson G. Biltcliffe, S. Walker, S. Dickey, w! Davie and E. Town. Messrs Walker and Town sang a duet; and the farce Leave it i io Me, in which v the Misses May Dunbar and Lily Haydon, and Messrs G. Biltcliffe, R. Irwin, H. Harrison and S. Walker took part, was played with vigour. .' Motett Society.— The Motetfc Society is now working hard to give, at an early date, the first of the series of concerts arranged to be produced this year. The music being practised is the Irish ballad, " Phaudrig Crohoore," and the cantata, Acis and Galatea. The first is one of the latest compositions by Dr Standford, and was selected by Mr Well 3 when recently in London. These two works, with some selections by the orchestra, will complete the programme of the concert, which the committee hope to. give about the middle of next month. The list- of honorary members is not yet complete. Local Billiard Tables.— The 2f e «j Zealand Times . says : — Messrs Wright, Kanish and Co., billiard-table manufacturers of this city, have been kept particularly busy for some time past, there being a demand for their tables from all parts of tbe colony. The Mauawatu Club at Palmerston North recently procured a first-class table from the firm, discarding one that had been imported from an Eng lish establishment. The Invercargill Com wercial Club has also secured n table, an< members are greatly pleased with it. Th firm are at present constructing a table fo the Dunedin Commercial Club and tw others for private citizens of Wellington.
