Tho monthly meeting of the Linwood Borough Council was. held, last- eveiing.j present — the Mayor and Councillors Joseph Taylor, Jamieson, Board, Brunt, Pearce and Marshall. An apology for absence was received *from Councillor John Taylor. It was resolved that a letter from Mr S. Powell, in connection with license fees for public halls in the borough, should be referred to the By-laws.Comtnit-tee. Messrs Izard and Loughnan wrote with regard to the encroachment of Lady Perceval's fence on the Stanmore Eoad. It was decided that the matter should be allowed to stand over till Wednesday. The Finaree Committee's report showed the receipts since last meeting to be £150 6s 9d, debit balance at bank £356 6s 6cl. Accounts to the amount of £170 4s 7d were recommended for payment. The report was adopted. The By-law and Lighting Committee's report stated that, in reference to an information laid against a ratepayer for keeping pigs on his property, the information had been withdrawn on his promising to keep no more pigs. The report was adopted. The Works Committee's and Inspector's reports were adopted. It was decided that the matter in reference to clearing the footway on the corner of Eolleston and Gloucester Streets should be left in the hands of the Works Committee, A petition from several ratepayers residing in Hereford Street, with regard to the terms at which a water-supply could be obtained for flushing purposes, was referred to the Works Committee to report upon. The Mayor stated that a special meeting of the Council, in regard to the Tuam Street drain, would be held on Thursday evening. The meeting then closed.
