-♦»■ [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 6. • Those of the Sydney s winnning Ijeam who passed through Wellington yesterday, en route to Sydney, were presented to the Premier, who extended to the visitors a hearty welcome. New Zealand representatives, on visiting New South Wales, had, he said, received a very hearty welcome from the Premier 'of that colony, and he (Mr Seddon) desired to reciprocate. He could assure the team that he would be only too pleased to do anything to make their brief stay in Wellington as pleasant as possible. He believed in athlelics. He was a believer in physical development because he knew that at the same time the mental powers were being- strengthened, and he was glad to see swimming becoming such a favourite pastime. LANCASTER PARK CLUB'S MEETING. The first swimming meeting given by the Lancaster . Park Club was held on Saturday. There was a very large attendance, and the weather was, beautifully fine. P. Percy Cavill and Lane, the Sydney champion swimmers, gave an : exhibition of swimming in the bath at Christ's College on Saturday morning. H. Eich, the Lytteltbn Club's representative in the Quarter-mile Championship of New Zealand, to be swum at Wanganui on Thursday, left for the north by the Te Anau on Saturday night. He was accompanied by J. Gower, another member of the club, who will compete in handicap events at the same meeting. The annual swimming races connected with St Albans School will be held on Saturday.
