RAM AND EWE FAIR.
... CHRISTCHURCH. MJ 1
Second'Day. Tho ram and ewe fair was concluded yesterday. The attendance was very small, and business was extremely dull. Many of the Southdown and Shropshire Down sheep had been sold privately the previous day, and the numerous empty pens thus caused t enabled the sale to be ended before 4 p.m. There was very moderate competition for the Downs which were submitted, and most of the sales were effected by private bargain. A few of the unsold portions of lines offered on the previous day were sold privately at current prices, but for a good many, especially Border Leicesters, not even half a guinea could be obtained, and for some of these the best offer that could be secured from boilers was accepted. A few stud rams sold at prices well within their value, but the greater number were passed either without a bid, or at offers of flock prices. No ewes were sold. The following is a list of the sales: — BEGISTEBED FLOCK BAMS (continued). SHROPSHIRE BOWK. Messrs H.
