• CAPTURE OF A STEAMER. Cni tea Press Association— By Electric TelegraphCopyright. Received Jan. 27, 4.59 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 26. In November last the Tbamea Customs authorities seized a large quantity of gunpowder about to be shipped on the steamer Beluchistan, bound for the Persian Gulf. The seizure was made in the belief that fche gunpowder was being sent to the Indian frontier rebels. Afterwards it was explained that it was for Abyssinia. It is now reported that fche Beluchiatan has been seized by the Britißh gunboat Lapwing at Muscat, in the Gulf of Oman, Southeast Arabia, with a quantity of arms and ammunition aboard, shipped at St Petersburg for Persian ports. It is supposed that the arms and ammunition were intended for the use of the revolted tribesmen in the Makran district of Beluchistan, or for a prospective disturbance in Persia.
