SOUTHLAND NEWS.
[Peb Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, Jan. 8. The Hon W. Hall-Jones has traversed a large portion of Southland during the last three days and received numerous deputations concerning local wants. This morning he left for Miller's Flat, and during next week will visit Roxburgh, Clyde, Naseby and Heriot. William James Compton, charged with threatening to shoot his wife, has been committed for trial.
