NEW ZEALAND NATIVES' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting will be held shortly for the piupose of establishing a branch of the New Zealand Natives' Association in Christchurch. The Association has established itself firmly in the North Island, and a kindred society has for a long time been in highly successful operation in Australia. The objects of the Association are such as should commend it to the goodwill of all young New Zealanders. They are, it should be said, distinctly un sectarian and non-political — the rulesstrictly forbid party politics and religious discussions — but they may be described as fraternal and social. The programme of the Association states that it " seeks by regular meetings devoted to literary and . social entertainment to promote a sense of brotherhood and patriotism - amongst its members, whilst contributing to their intellectual, artistic and social improvement." It aims at furnishing a national club, where New Zealanders may meet, exchange ideas aud obtain information. Benevolence also enters into the purposes of the Association, for it aims at establishing a system by which members who have met witli misfortune may be assis'a-d. Ladies are admitted to membership; and therefore both men and women aro to be invited to take part iv the forthcoming meeting.
