THE VOLUNTEERS.
The Christchurch City Rifles will begin their annual company camp this evening in tho police paddock, Sydenham. The camp will continue for a week, and the members of the corps will pass the nights under canvas, drill in the mornings and evonings, and go to their civilian avocations during the daytime. The non-commissioned officers and men of the Canterbury Engineers will give a smoke concert at New Brighton this evening.. The meeting of the Non-Commissioned Officers' Club, called for this evening, has, owing to unforeseen circumstances, been postponed till next Wednesday, when Major Slater will deliver his lecture on ".War Medals." The members of the Woolston Band made a generous offer to do duty as a garrison band until one could he organised. The Volunteer Regulations precluded the acceptance of the offer, but the spirit which prompted it was appreciated nevertheless. Lieutenant-Colonel Gordon will inspect the Boys' High School Cadets at-11.30 a.m. on Monday^ Dee. 20, when squad competitions will take place. He will inspect the Christ's College Cadets at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
