FUNERAL.

The respect in which the late Mr Robert Dawsou was held was amply shown by the large' number of persons who attended his fvineral yesterday. The cortege, which left Brucefield for the Addington Cemetery, wa3 over half a mile long, and the attendance was a most representative one. The hearse, which was an open one, was preceded by the late Mr Dawson's carriage, which bore a very large number of floral tributes, and following the mourning coaches were about a dozen landaus, conveying members of the staff of Messrs J. Ballantyno and Co., of which the deceased was for many years .a member. Every Wesleyan circuit in Canterbury was. represented, and there were also representatives present from the West Coast. The service at the house was conducted by the Rev D. M'Nicoll and Mr E. Wilkinson, and that at the grave by the Eevs D. M'Nicoll, W. Orchard and G. W. Parsonson, and at the conclusion of the service, which was of an impressive nature, the hymn '• For Ever with the Lord " was sung. The bearers were six of the oldest employes of D unstable House, viz., Messrs Turton, Oswald, Buckley, A. E. Triggs, R. Rutledge and Woodham. Amongst the large number sent, were wreaths from the Trustee Board of Durham Street Wesleyan Church, the members of the Durham Street Church Ladies' Guild, the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavour of Durham Street Church, and the employes of Duustable House, as well as from Mr and Mrs John Ballantyne (Timaru), Mr and Mi's Guerney, Mr and Mrs Jackson (Timaru), Dr and Mrs C. M. Anderson, Mr and Mrs J. R. Triggs, Mr and Mrs Josiah Ballantyne, Mr and Mrs Wm. Ballantyne, Mr and Mrs Thorne Ballantyne, Mr and Mrs Holdgate, (Timaru), Mi; and Mrs R. W. England, Mv and Mrs A. K. England, Mrs Kenner and family, Mr and Mrs C. Gill and family, Mrs Kelynge England, Mr and Mrs Grieshaber, Mr and Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs E. Jones, Mr and Mrs F. Thompson, Mr and Mrs J. OH.
