ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DROWNED AT SEA. [Per Press Association.!
SYDNEY, June 23,
The ship Conqueror has arrived from New York, after a terrible passage. The mate, Mulcoy, and a boy were washed overboard and drowned.
Yesterday morning, as three young men were driving back from the Show Grounds, the horse, which had been travelling at a walking pace, was struck with the whip by the driver and started off suddenly. The other two, Messrs Burke and ,lohn Nixon, who happened to be standing at'the time, were jerked forward, and Burke, while falling from the trap, grabbed at Nixon's arm to save himself. Both fell to the ground, and the wheel of the vehicle passed over Nixon's arm, breaking it. Both sustained severe abrasions to the face.
A lady named Mrs Armstrong, while walking at the Show Grounds yesterday, slipped and fell heavily. She was conveyed to the hospital at once, it being thought that one of her legs was broken, but on examination her ankle was found to be badly sprained.
