CITY RIFLES. The following are the results of the second and last of the handicap competitions for the season : — First Class — Private Chapman, first competition 86, second competition 69, (handicap 5), total 160; Colour-sergeant Bean, 98, 58, (scr)— ls6 ; Corporal Dodd, 87, 52, (7)— 146; Private Smith, 74, 47, (20)— 141. Second Class— Private O'Connor, first competition 50, second competition 58, (handicap 20), total 128 : Private Cork, 64, 59, (scr)— l23; Private Turvey, 54, 55, (12)— 121; Corporal Woodfield, 60, 45, (12)— 117 ; Private Bean, 53, 40, (20)— 113; Sergeant Hopkins, 55, 40, (12)— 107; Private Glover, 65, 24, (10)— 99. Third Class — Private Fleck, first competition 68, second competition 60, (scr), total 128 ; Private Sycamore, 62, 58, (2)— 120; Private Bradley, 59, 57, (scr)— ll6; Private Butterfield, 57, 45, (7) —109 ; Private Ffrost, 24, 54, (25)— 103. The competition was finished in semidarkness, a fact which affected the results considerably. The. ammunition used was the new issue for the present year. It turned out to be of the same bad quality as that used during the past season. The highest score at 6Ooyds was 21, by Colour-Sero-eant Bean ; Chapman made 14, Dodd 8, and Parker 7. Chapm<an was fortunate enough to get an exceptionally good pocket at 500 yds, putting on 82 ; the next highest score was Parker's 23. The ranges for the first class were 200, 500 and 600 yds, seven shot 3 at each; and for the second and third classes 200, 500 and 600 yds, ten shots at each.
