—^ SUTLER ATTEMPTS TO COMMIT SUICIDE. (Ter Press Association.] NEW YORK, April 3. There are sensational reports from San Francisco with reference to attempted suicide by Butler. The warders, hearing a peculiar noise in the cell, found Butler sitting with his arms resting on a table, almost covered with blood, and his face all bloody. It was discovered that with his thumbnail he had made a ragged jncision, half an inch long, near the temporal artery. The doctor considers that the result would h»ve been serious if Butler had correctly located the artery. Butler has recovered from the effects of the wound. In consequence of this attempt, increased vigilance is being exercised by those in charge of the prisoner.
