* OXFORD WINS. [Per Phess 1 Association.! LONDON, April 3.. Oxford. won the University boat race by two lengths. The betting prior to tho race was 5 to 1 on Oxford. April 4. Cambridge won the toss and selected tho Middlesex side of the river. They got away witli a lead, but failed to maintain their advantage for any distance. At Clasper's Oxford had half a length's lead, the mile being covered in 3urin 55sec. The Dark Blues, who were rowing strong, gradually forged ahead, and shot Hammersmith bridge with a lead of a clear length in 7min 20sec. At Chiswick the lead was increased to two lengths, and Barnes's bridge was passed with Oxford three lengths' ahead. At this stage the Light Blues began to show signs of distress. They, however, made several gallant spurts, but were quite outclassed. Oxford won easily at the finish. The time for the full course was 19min 12see.
