WORK AND WAGES.

THE TAILORS' UNION. [From our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, April 3. At a meeting of master tailors last night it was decided that before further discussing the log proposed by the Tailors' Union, the Union should be requested to excise from the log the following stipulations: — (l)That Union men have a preemptive right to employment ; (2) that only one day's wage man and one apprentice be employed in any shop ; and (3) that the minimum weekly wage be £3. This resolution -will be submitted to a meeting of Union representatives this afternoon -with the view of getting them to agree to it. It is not likely that any agreement will bo arrived at, and consequently the matter will be dealt with by the Conciliation Board.
