OBITUARY.
[Per Press association. I LONDON, Feb. 22.' The death of Blondin, the famous tight-rope walker, is announced. ST PETERSBURG, Feb. 22. William Steinitz, chess player, is dead. [William Steinitz was born at Prague, Bohemia, in 1836. He early attained distinction as a chess player, and in 1866, by defeating the late Professor Anderssen, won the match championship of the world, a position which he long held against all contestants. A few weeks ago he was defeated by Lasker in a match at St Petersburg, and immediately after he was attacked by the illness which caused his death.]. ADELAIDE, Feb. 23. Mr George Ash, M.L.A., a well-known politician, is dead.
