[Per Press Association.l AUCKLAND, Jan. 5. At the annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Educational Institute, which was commenced yesterday, it was agreed, after an all-day discussion, by 23 to 11 that a uniform scale of salaries for teachers throughout the colony is urgently required; also that the Minister of Education be requested to submit to thejj Institute and Parliament a scheme" foi***, a colonial scale of salaries and staff. A resolution of sympathy was passed in connection with the retirement of Mr H. Worthington, head teacher of the Wellesley Street School, through illress. At to-day's meeting a committee was appointed to go through the arithmetical test cards of the past year, and report to the executive, who were empowered to act on the report.
