EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.
[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Jan. 4. The New Zealand Educational Institute Conference opened to-day. Mr Ralph Stewart, the president, delivered the opening speech. A number of southern delegates were present. It was agreed that the educational districts of Grey and Westland should be affiliated with the Institute. A proposition in tbe direction of a colonial scheme of salaries for teachers was made. The discussion is proceeding.
