VOLUNTEER RAILWAY PASSES.

Some trouble has . recently been occasioned on account of a refnsal to grant free railway passes to volunteers for the purpose of allowing them to engage in. rifle matches with other corps. Mr Joyce, member for Lyttelton, was asked to inquire into the matter, and has received a reply from the Premier to the effeot that all volunteers are entitled to free passes on the railway for the purpose stated, and he (the Premier) cannot understand the refusal referred to. The matter, he promised, would be inquired into.
