Owing to no amicable adjustment having been arrived at, hi 3 lordship has closed the larger quarries. '* THE THREATENED ENGINEERS' STRIKE. MELBOURNE, Jan. 2. There is no change in connection with the threatened strike of Engineers. The Engineers' Association carried a resolution that no member bo allowed to start in any steamer with Melbourne articles from today. The Bay excursion. steamers will be supplied with engineers till the return trips on Sunday.
