HORNBY SCHOOL.

The annual distribution of prizes and treat to the children "attending ythe Hornby District School took place on Friday afternoon, in a paddock . kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Monson. A marquee belonging to the Islington Factory was erected on the ground for the use of the children, and Mr Smith, of Christchurch, catered. The prizes were distributed by Mr Spicer (chairman) and Mr Monson. The . following is the prizelist :— Standard V. — Leonard Bighem and Gilbert Hardaker. Standard IV. — May Chancy, Sam M'Knight, Edward Newton, Jack Watson and Alick Muir. Standard 111. — Minnie Piper, Emma Hfiynes, Mary Blake, Maggie M'Knight, Mary . Ellis, Dolly Brown, George Chancy, Ernest Dixon, Willie Blake. Fred Marigold and John Brown. Standard II. — Nellie Boswell, Jessie Haynes, Nellie Jackson, Bertha Sheenan, Gordon Dixon, Vincent Crequer and' Peter Muir. Standard I.— Olive Butler, Maud Butler, Henrietta Corbett, Minnie Dixon, Rose Hardaker, Annie Muir, Annie Kinnimont, Leonard Brown, Harry Hunim and James Newton. Sewing. — Standard IV. — May Chancy. Standard lll.— Emma. Haynes, Mary Blake and Dolly Brown (Miss Durey's prize). Standard II. — Jessie Haynes and Nellie Boswell. Standard I. — Olive Butler and Henrietta Corbett. Infants — Jessie Tuft and Annie Chancy. All the children below the First Standard also received prizes. Before breaking up for the day three hearty cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Monson for the use of their paddock.
