SWIMMING.
RICHMOND CLUB'S SPOETS. The Richmond Amateur Swimming Club's annual exhibition of water sports took place on Saturday afternoon, when there was a good attendance, the ladies mustering in strong force. A good afternoon's amusement was provided by the tub race, the blindfold race, the highdiving, the turning competition, the springboard diving and several races. A. B. Truscott, paced by C. Low and J. Vickerinan, attempted to put up a record for 50yds. His time, 35sec, though good, did not beat the record. Messrs R. J. Paull and W. Snowball acted as judges and Mr T. Bassett as starter and timekeeper. The following are the results of the principal events : — ' Exhibition Scratch Race, 100 yds. — First heat: A. B. Truscott 1. J. E. Allen, H. L. Armitage and E. M. Vickerinan elbo started. Time— lmin 32sec. Second heat: C. Low 1. W. G. Strange,;Gr. H. Lawrence and W. H. Thomas also started. Time — lmin 28£ sec. Truscott and Low did not swim off the final. Plunging Competition. —S. Stewart (East Christchurch) 31ft llin, 1 ; J. E. Allen (Richmond) 30ft Bin, 2. Junior Relay Race, 100 yds. — East Christchurch 1, Richmond 2. Variety Race, .four times across the bath,— W. G. Strange (Richmond) 1, H. Dudley (Richmond) 2. Inter-club Relay Race, 100yds.— East Christchurch (F. Newton, H. Bullivant, F. Stokes and T. Wauchop) 1, Richmond (H. L. Armitage, A. B. Truscott, J. E. Allen and C. Low) 2. Time — lmin s§sec. The final event was a polo match between East Christchurch and Richmond, which was won by the former club's team by three goals to one.
