ELECTORAL.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. ' The Government offices all over the colony will be closed at noon on election day. HAWERA, Nov. 30. The Premier speaks here and at Eltham, on Tuesday evening. Mr Meredith addressed a meeting of the Ashley electors in the Public Hall, Leithfield, on Friday evening. There was a large attendance of both men and women, Mr A. M'Lean.in the chair. Mr Meredith spoke for about two and a quarter- hours and received a patient hearing except for the interruptions of a few Conservatives. At the conclusion of his address Mr Meredith answered a number of questions, but the small section of the meeting, numbering about five, seemed to be determined in creating a disturbance and frequently insulted both the Chairman and the candidate. A vote of thanks, on the motion of Mr Pranks seconded by Mrs Dennis, was carried to Mr Meredith. The following are the numbers of names on the rolls of Christchurch and the adjacent.districts, as shown by the final supplementary rolls : — Christchurch 18,439, Avon 4336, Eiccarton 4120. Lyttelton 4322, Kaiapoi 4793, Selwyn 4059.
