The Bank of England returns, published to-day show total reserve in notes and bullion to be .£26,780,000, tho proportion of reserve to liabilities being 54 per cent. Three months' bills are discounted at 3£ per cent. Consols 111}. New South Wales four per cent inscribed stock, 1185; three and a half per cent, 107} ; three per cent, 103}. Victorian four per cent, 112. ; three and a half per cent, 105^. South Australia four per cent, 112; three and a half per cent, 110. Queensland four percent, 113}; three and a half percent, 106_. Tasmania three and a half per cent, 108; West Australia three and a half per cent, 110 ; New Zealand four per cent, 111J ; three and a half per cent, 106 J ; three per cent, 100. New Zealand frozen mutton, first quality 3_d, second quality 2id, lamb 3_d. The English wheat market shows a general advance of sixpence, and has an upward tendency, and tho American market is advancing, with increased firmness. The decline in the American visible supply is responsible for the hardening tendency. Wool is very brisk, and the market is hardening. Good greasies and faulty scoureds have improved most. The series closes on Dec. 11. The Bradford market is restrictive. Sugar firm— German beet 9s 3d, Java ,11s 9d. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron f.o.b in the Clyde 4Ss 10j_d. Silver 2s 5 5-16ths.
