Australians v. Auckland,

The Australians won the toss, and went to bat at 2.15 p.m. Iredale and Darling faced the bowling of N. Neill and Kallender.

A match was played yesterday afternoon between the Victoria House and Dunstable House Junior Cricket Clubs, resulting in a win for Victoria House by 13 runs. The scores were — Victoria House 44, Dunstable House 31. Spiller and Johnson were the chief contributors, and M'Alister and Johnston bowled best for the winners, while M'Clellan and King and M'Clelland and M'Coll did respectively the same for the losers.

A match was played on Mr Monck's ground, Sumner, yesterday, between -a team from the Posh and Telegraph Offices and the Sumner Club, resulting in an easy victory for the local team by nine wickets. Treweek (with 15 and 12) and Thomas (12) for the Post and Telegraph were the only ones to reach double figures, while Gilpin and Hair, with 25 each not out, batted well for Sumner. The bowling honours were equally divided between Treweek and Mansell for the visitors and Hair and Gilpin for the local teams. The following are the scores : — Post and Telegraph — First innings 25, second innings 47. Sumner — First innings 23 and 56 for one wicket.

The fourth eleven of the Boys' High School went to Sumner on Wednesday and played a match with a team from the school club,. which resulted in a win for the latter by 23 runs.
