WELLINGTON, Nov. 6.
The Premier visits Hawke's Bay next week. He speaks at Hastings on" Tuesday.
The unseasonable weather in October has been so great a hindrance to shearing that the first local wool sale, which was fixed for Friday next, has had to be postponed till Dec. 4.
The City Council is not satisfied with thd way in which the drainage' works are being constructed, and a motion was carried by six to three calling for a voluminous return showing the cost in detail. The mover said that he was satisfied some of the work was costing 30 per cent more than it ought to do, and he urged that it would be better to let contracts.
His Excellency the Governor has given a challenge cup to the Agricultural Association, to become the property of the exhibitor who wins the aggregate point prize two years in succession, or three at intervals.
Messrs A. Collins and W. C. Miles have be«n nominated to fill the workers' vacancy on the Conciliation Board.
