WELLINGTON ITEMS.

[From Our Correspondent!! WELLINGTON, Ocr" 19. THE ELECTIONS.

The election prospects are the sole legacy which the session has left us, and the first people to take advantage of the legacy are Messrs George Hutchison and Duthie. The former has already addressed his constituents., He did so atHunterville yesterday, and tho latter has retired definitely -from tho political arena. Mr Duthie is much respected on both sides, but he found that a man cannot serve two masters. To do everything that requires to be done in the political field takes time and attention, things which a business man in a leading position, with large interests, cannot afford to give much of outside of his business, so Mr Duthie has determined to stick to his business. It is a "big- i - esolve on his part, for his re-election was, I have reason to believe, absolutely certain.
