National Association. — A general meeting of the members of the National Association was held at the Gloucester Street, last evening, when there was a large attendance, including a number of ladies. Mr W. Jacques, president, was in the chair. The question of selectingtwo more candidates for Christchurch was discussed, and the President stated that the Council would probably be in a position to announce the names to members early next week. Several members addressed the meeting on various matters of interest, particularly on the land tax and the wages question, and it Was stated that wages had fallen considerably since the advent of the present Government. A special meeting of the Council of the Association will be held this evening, at eight o'clock, to consider important matters connected with the election.
