Matthew's, St Albans. —St Matthew's schoolroom was well filled on Thursday evening, when the two comedies, The Wigmahers and The Mischievous Nigger, -were played by the Avonside Boys' Club. The second part consisted of 'songs by Mrs T. Walker, Messrs A. Large, H. Bell and F. Meyer, a comic sketch by Messrs Glover and Northey, a duet (piaflo and violin) by Miss and Mr Large, and a trio (two banjos and autoharp) by Messrs Seymour Bros. During the interval, Mr C. Ives apologised for the absence of the Rev H. Williams, and thanked the audience for its patronage.
