[Per Press Association.] f MELBOURNE, Oct. 8. Flemington this morning Tire ran the best mile of the season in Imin 46sec, Newhaven taking two seconds longer. Bloodshot went a mile and three furlongs nicely. O'Trigger did a strong mile and a half, and Hopscotch a fast nine furlongs. Le Var did a mile in Imin 48sec. Miraculum, after an absence from the tracks of over a week, galloped strongly and apparently soundly. Marusa is at 8 to 1 for the Caulfield Cup. Hopscotch has been backed for .£3OOO, and is now at 12 to 1 ; Straightfire 100 to 7 j XL, Le Var, Homespun, Cremorne, Preston, Damien and Duhallow 100 to 5 ; Canoona, Parisienne, Pivot, Merman, Skipper and Right Honorable 100 to 4. Newhaven is at 5 and 4 to 1 for the Derby, and at 8 to 1 for the Melbourne Cup.
