[Per Press Association.] THE TICK PEST. BRISBANE, Oct. 7. Reports from tho tick-infested districts in the north are encouraging. In many parts formerly infested no ticks are to be . seen. ■ It is possible, however, that the comingihpt^vjeather may. cause the pest to become active.. Federation. : BRISBANE, Oct. 8. The Council has adjourned consideration, of the Assembly's message on the Federation Bill till Tuesday. It is reported that several Councillors, fearing a deadlock, are prepared to recede from the position and not insist on the amendments. EPISCOPAL. SYDNEY, Oct. 8. The Anglican Synod has resolved that the title of Archbishop shall be conferred on all Metropolitans of ecclesiastical provinces in Australia and Tasmania. At present New South Wales is the only existing province, and the Primate becomes the first Archbishop. The resolution, however, will not take effect till after the recognition of the title by the Lambeth Conference. A JUDICIAL DILEMMA. MELBOURNE, Oct. 8. A hitch has occurred in the City of Melbourne Bank prosecutions. It has been discovered that the son of the foreman of the jury is in the employment of one of the defendants, and the question has been raised whether this might not affect the verdict. The Judge adjourned the hearing to consider the point.
