Uii Hofit^ said that in a year the baiikfMpt haa sot only lost his capital, but had Fp€fwt gvrfn'e £300 of his creditors' money, and that in a retail business. "Was ifc not almost a case in which tho man should be protected against himself ? Mr. Bruges, said .that the man had. lost .£l5O of his own money, and had lost it through his inexperience. The Official Assignee said that since putting in hi 3 report he had received a document signed by ten creditors opposing the discharge, and stating that the bankrupt had committed certain breaches of the Bankruptcy Act. ' One of the principal objectors was Mr Edlin, tho bankrupt's 'brother-in-law, who stated that the bankrupt had made certain admissions to him. The bankrupt, however, stoutly denied these, and Mr .Edlin's statement was discounted by the fact that after the bankruptcy he had assisted the bankrupt to carry on business in his (Mr Edlin's) name. . The objectors had had ample notice, but had not appeared in Court in support of their statements. He (the Official Assignee) had been to Wooflend and made inquiries into the assertions, and had been able to find very little evidence to support them. Mr Bruges briefly addressed the Court on behalf of the bankrupt. His Honor said that he did not think that a man who had done as the bankrupt had, should be let loose quite free on the community again for some time at all events. The discharge would be suspended for twelve months. KE HENRY STEPHEN FERGUSON. Mr Widdowson applied for an order for the bankrupt's discharge, which had been held over from a previous sitting. He stated that the bankrupt had made arrangements for paying, the doctors, who were his principal creditors. . His Honor said that under the circumstances he would now grant the discharge.
