CHRISTCHURCH BOWLING CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Club was held at Warner's Hotel last night. There was a good attendance, and the president (Mr G . Bonnington) occupied the chair. The Secretary, Dr Thomas, read the report of the Committee, which congratulated the club on another successful year. The debts had been paid up to date. The receipts had been .£l6l IDs, and the expenses .£l6O 19s, leaving a balance on the year's working of 11s, which, added to the amount brought forward from last year, made a credit balance of .£23 8s lOd. There was also a sum of .£3 3s to the credit of the prize fund. There were seventy members on the roll. The M'Clatehie cup had become the property of the club, and, in accordance with the donor's wish, would be played for among the members. The pipe reticulation of the green, the new pavilion and other permanent improvements,' had been begun last week, and would be finished about the end of October. The Club had been registered under the Unclassified Societies Registration Act. Thanks were due to Captain Marshall and Mr Money for the time, care and trouble they had given to the, affairs of the Club arid to the donors of prizes. The following trophies had already been provided for the coming season : — M'Clatchie cup, Dewar bowls, and ' prizes from Messrs Kohn, S. Manning, W. Barnett and W. Menzies Gibb. The report and the accompanying ', balance-sheet were adopted. ■■ On the motion of Mr F. Hobbs, a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officebearers. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : — President, Mr G. Bonnington ; vice-president, Mr J. C. Maddison; jhon treasurer, Mr W. S. Robison ; hon secretary, Dr Thomas j committee, Messrs S. Manning, R. Struthersaud A. W. Money; auditor, Mr A. A. M'Kellar ; delegates to New Zealand Bowling Association, Mr Moodie and Dr Thomas • supervisor of the green, Captain Marshall. The question of formally opening the green, and also of having an informal opening before' the. works- in hand are completed, was loft in the hands of the committee, i The .president and secretary were requested to attend the meeting to be held to consider the question of an alteration in the system of noting time during the summer months. On the motion of Mr Nalder seconded by Mr S. Manning, it was resolved—" That the annual meeting of the club be held during the fourth week in May." It was decided that the M'Clatchie Cup should be competed for in a series of handicap singles, to be got off as early iv the season as possible. It was agreed to recommend that the Dewar bowls should be played for in a series of handicap singles among the members of the Christchurch and Canterbury Clubs, and that the champions from each club should meet to decide the final on a green to be selected by ballot, and that members wishing to compete must pay an entrance fee of Is, to provide a prizo for the runner-up.
