. » _ CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, Oct. 3. (Before Mr G. Tombs, J.P.) Drunkenness. — A first offender — a man — was fined 5s and costs, in default fortyeight hours' imprisonment. — Clara Meech was fined a similar amount. Alleged Assault. — George Merritt was charged with having, on May 30, assaulted Herbert William Candy. On the application of Chief -Detective Henderson, the accused, who had been arrested on warrant at Ashburtoß, was remanded till Monday. (Before Mr G. Tombs, J.P., and Mr W. H. Hai*greaves, J.P.) Alleged Vagrancy. — William Boardman was charged with being deemed to be a rogue and vagabond, having no lawful means of support, and having been previously convicted as an idle and disorderly person. On his own application, the accused was remanded till Monday, to appear before the Stipendiary Magistrate.
