He said that the increase under this heading as compared -with last year, amounted to .£12,000, which he thought unjustifiable in view of the number of volunteer corps that had been disbanded. . Lost by 24 to 12, and the -whole vote passed unaltered. In the vote for miscellaneous setTices, The Hon T. Thompson said, in reply to Mr M*Nab, that no provision was made on the estimates for a grant to the New Zealand Eifle Association this year. ' If it was the desire of the House . that the grant should be continued, the amount could te placed on the supplementary estimates. The Police Department Estimates wete next considered. On the vote for four Inspectors under the Licensing Act, Mr Gh W. Russell objected to the nature of these appointments. He said it was understood when the Act was passed that
